Recognizing The Need
Although most drivers want timely vehicle repairs, not all are comfortable knowing when they should get a wheel alignment. That’s okay. We’re happy to help you. First, having us perform a wheel alignment when you purchase a new set of tires is a great idea. This ensures that your new treads get off to the best possible start. Also, the best practice is to have us check your alignment periodically, typically about once a year, without a suspected problem. Beyond these rules of thumb, there are signs you can watch for that should prompt you to schedule a visit. Proper alignment can be disrupted by the repeated daily grind across bumps, an encounter with an obstacle like a curb or pothole, or even a crash. One sure sign we need to check the alignment is uneven tire wear. You’ll notice that the tread is sufficient in some areas and significantly worn in others. You may also see a tug to the side while trying to drive straight ahead. Also, the steering wheel may not return to the center, or you may hear odd screeching noises from the tires as you drive. Correcting an improper wheel alignment is essential because it impacts your ability to handle your vehicle safely and the amount you spend on tires and suspension repairs over the long term.
